Math in the Middle – Working with Middle School Students
Varying ability levels within the same math class present instructional challenges - how to bring all students to true conceptual understanding and math success. Some concepts are easily explained, while others may require multiple explanations and examples. Online simulations provide the teacher with technology to introduce, present, explain, and review challenging concepts using highly visual and interactive scenarios. Simulations technology also allows students to take situations and problems encountered in class, change variables, and explore math concepts with the opportunity to practice without stress!

Does this even apply to me?- Secondary ELA Only!
How many PDs have you sat through getting useless information from “experts” that have never taught in a classroom? Have you been excited to go to a seminar only to find out that the strategies being covered don’t work with your content or age group?
Let’s get specific. This course will offer strategies and tech tools to use in middle level ELA. That’s it. No cutesy kindergarten stuff, no math simulations, no licensed programs from a company representative- just tech stuff you can actually use in your secondary English and Language Arts classroom from a teacher of middle school students.

Cancelled-Maximizing School Technology
School and teachers have a wealth of technology at their disposal today. The spread of technology has dramatically changed the classroom like no other educational innovation. Students can, with the click of a few keys, uncover information more quickly, digest that information and present it to their teachers and peers in a way that looks extremely professional. Technology will also allow students to take situations and problems encountered in class and change variables to evaluate the outcome. Online simulations provide the venue for students to truly understand predictive models and then critically evaluate the PROS and CONS related to their outcome.

Cancelled- Maximizing School Technology
School and teachers have a wealth of technology at their disposal today. The spread of technology has dramatically changed the classroom like no other educational innovation. Students can, with the click of a few keys, uncover information more quickly, digest that information and present it to their teachers and peers in a way that looks extremely professional. Technology will also allow students to take situations and problems encountered in class and change variables to evaluate the outcome. Online simulations provide the venue for students to truly understand predictive models and then critically evaluate the PROS and CONS related to their outcome.

The Do's, Don'ts, and the "Wish I Had Tried" in the Process of Using Google Apps to Develop the "Paperless Classroom"
It is hard to teach World Geography, discuss pollution and saving the Earth, while using boxes and boxes of paper. My teaching partner and I have cut back a great deal on the use of paper for 3 years. We decided in the 4th quarter of 2019 to try our best to go paperless. Come see and hear about our victories and setbacks while learning about some of the applications that we use and how we use them. Some will be Google Applications that you already use but hopefully, you will learn about some other programs that you have not used. Even though we are at the high school level, there will also be applications and programs that we have in our "pocket" that we have not used that elementary and middle school teachers may be interested in.
